Arraigo in Spain: a diagram of 11 steps

1. Check General Conditions

   The general conditions are the same for all species except Familial: you have lived in Spain for two consecutive years and do not threaten public order.

3. Build a timeline for two years.

   The regulations require a continuous stay in Spain and do not specify the length of departures allowed; the time for the consideration of an application for international protection before a final decision is taken at two years ’ notice.

4. Collect evidence of residence

   There's no closed list in the law, and the complex works: the more independent evidence each month, the better.

5. Order a non-judicial report

   We need to know from the countries where you lived the last five years before you entered Spain. If you live in Spain continuously for all five years, you don't need a third-country certificate. The Spanish agency does the checks itself.

6. Get informe de integración if you need it.

7. Gather the papers by look and pay the fee.

9. Follow the notifications and answer the requerimiento

   Reglamento does not specify the time limit for the decision for the arraigo; the Ministry's reference sheet (Hoja 28, arraigo social) refers to three months and allows silence (silencia negativo); the information is checked on the date of submission.

10. Ask TIE and start working.

    After a positive decision, TIE is requested personally within a month. If sociolaboral permits are valid after registration with social insurance within a month of notification.

11. Continue the permit and plan further.
