Barcelona's Family Areas: What to Look For

There is no official rating of Barcelona areas for families, the city is divided into 10 districtes and the targets tested are: school area, near CAP, transport and Ajuntation data.

Information material, not individual legal opinion: Prepared using IE; checked by a subject matter specialist before publication has not yet been completed; conditions apply to a particular situation and may change.
Short
  • Barcelona is divided into 10 districtes (districts), within them (ris). Access to basic services, such as a school and a CAP (polyclinic), is built in the vicinity of the home [1].
  • The school area depends on the address. For kindergarten, it is a districte, for infantil and primaria (3-12 years) one of the 29 barritic areas of one decritte, for ESO (12-16) districte; the decision determines Consorci d'Educación de Barcelona [2].
  • Transport:: Single rate of one zone between 36 AMB municipalities; check time between address and school and work rather than by district name [3].
  • We don't have district and price ratings: We have not found official data that compares areas as "better" or "better" or published estimates from private sources. [1][4].
  • Data for datarites and barris published Ajuntament in Portal Barcelona Dades [4].

How many areas in Barcelona and how are they built?

Barcelona consists of ten districtes: Ciutat Vella, Eixample, Santas-Montjuüc, Les Corts, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Grácia, Horta-Guinardó, Nou Barris, Santa Andreu and Santa Martí [1]Everyone is divided into barris, blocks. Amuntament (mayor) in the welcome guide for visitors explains that access to basic services, including school and CAP (Centre d'Atencio Primária), is built in close proximity: you need to contact the service nearest to your address. [1].

This means that the choice of the area affects the school area, the health centre and the road, not the quality of these services, and there are no official comparisons.

Are there official ratings for families in Barcelona?

No. We did not find reports from Ajuntament, Generalitat or Consorci d'Educación that would give the data to the "family fit" level. [4]Ratings and "tops" in private blogs, portals and agencies are based on different criteria and may contradict each other; we do not use them and do not recommend specific agencies and portals.

Three checks at a specific address are more useful for the family: school area, distance to CAP and time to work and study.

How does school zoning affect the choice of the area?

The proximity of the home to the school is a priority for pre-registration. [2]Rules differ for different ages:

The list of schools for 3-12 years includes three nearest state and three nearest concertados, all schools in the zone, schools not exceeding 500 metres and others, if necessary, up to six types of each [2]The distance is considered from the block of houses (illa de casees) [2]The list for your address is available on the Consorci website. What transport benchmarks can be checked?

The Metro, FGC, Roadies, trams and buses operate under the single integrated ATM system. [3]What should be checked for a specific address:

  • The nearest subway, FGC or Roadies station and the route to work and school;
  • Time travels in peak hours, not by map;
  • The nearest stops of the bus and the night Nithbus;
  • I'm not sure how to get to the airport.

Adult and child travel: T-usual and other ticketsAny time and distance numbers are better taken from the ATM or TMB planner at your address: we don't have them.
