Do I need TIE?

TIE is assigned to all persons who have been granted a visa or permit for more than six months and requested in person (article 209.1 RD 1155/2024); Ley 14/2013 permits more than six months to issue a card (article 76.2) [1][2]For the Ley 14/2013, article 75.4 says that the visa gives residence without TIE and article 209.1 requires a map; as they are combined, we have no official explanation. TIE is requested personally within one month: from entry into Spain on a visa or from the date on which the permit is issued or has entered into force; if the permit is dependent on the alta in the Seguridd Social, the month is counted as from the alta (art. 209.1 RD 1155/2024) [1]In the case of a Spanish national who has received a permit in Spain, the month is one of notification (art. 97.7) and arraigo is one of notification of concession (art. 130.6) [1].

EX-17 is a form of application on TIE (Solicidud de Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero).The page of the Policya Nacional only describes the in-person application: the statement confirming payment of the tasa 790 code 012 is accepted in any OFCina de Extranjería or comisaria [1]. TIE's fee is paid to the state by modelo 790 code 012: the form forms a form on sede.politia.gob.es, paid in a bank without an account open there. [1]. The pages of the Policy and the Delegación note do not describe the document that is issued after the prints. In practice, it is called resguardo, but we did not confirm it. How do you check: ask the police station when you print and save whatever you get.

On the map, check the name, NIE, date and type of authorization with the decision. TIE is as valid as the permit it documents (Article 209.7 RD 1155/2024), so the time on the map must be the same as the time period in the decision. What if TIE is lost or stolen?

Loss, theft or deterioration of TIE results in the issuance of a new card upon the application of the owner: this is not an extension but the period of the new card is equal to the remaining period of time (article 209.9 RD 1155/2024) [1]. In Barcelona, duplicado, carrier number and tasa 790-012 refer to Policía with cita previa. [2]. In the table tasas Policía there is no separate line for duplicado, so check the amount when writing [3].

What time does TIE have to be processed?
Within one month, a month from entry into Spain on a visa or from the date on which the permit was issued or entered into force; if the permit is dependent on the Alta in the Seguridad Social, the month is counted from the alta (article 209.1 RD 1155/2024); the card is requested in person; the violation of the TIE obligations is sanctioned under the Ley Orgánica 4/2000 (article 209.4), and the date of the decision is therefore immediately placed on the calendar.
How much is TIE and who's the fee paid?
The TIE fee is paid to the State on a model of 790, code 012, before application. The first TIE is 16.08 I on line 4.2 of the annex to Orden PJC/617/025. Other lines of the table are: TIE, extended, TIE long-term residence and TIE family of a Spanish citizen. The single line for a duplicado when a map is lost is not included in the table, so check the amount when the card is lost.
How do you put a print on and get TIE in Barcelona?
According to the notice Delegación del Gobierno en Catalúña of 20 May 2025, the issuance of TIE, toma de Huellas and recogida is not included in the records of the offices of the Policía Nacional on the subject of culture, while the Office de Extranjería is not included in the records. The record is recorded through the Cita previa de extranjería portal, a section for trimites ante el Cuerpo Nacional de Policía. The list is dated, so check the order and points of the portal when it is recorded.
What if TIE is lost or stolen?
Applying for a new map: under article 209.9 RD 1155/2024, if it is lost, stolen or damaged, it is not an extension, but in Barcelona it is a political case of the case of the crime. While the duplicate is being processed, it is possible to request autorización de regreso if you have filed for the duplicate. The sum of the duplicado duties is checked when you write: there is no separate line for it in the table.
Can you leave Spain while the residence permit is being renewed?
For return at the time of renewal or replacement of the lost TIE, there is an autorización de regreso under article 5 RD 1155/2024: EX-13 form, up to 90 days, a personal delivery. Not automatically issued, the agency ’s silence means refusal and entry is only possible through Spanish passes. Tickets are purchased after receipt of the document and not before.
